It is with great pleasure that we can announce our twelfth king. As one of the singers, guitarists and songwriters, please welcome Mr. Erik Mårtensson!

Erik Martensson is most known as vocalist in Swedish Hard Rock band ECLIPSE and as guitarist in W.E.T. with Jeff Scott Soto on vocals. He is also famous as producer, mixing engineer, musician and songwriter working for bands and artists like Ronnie Atkins (Pretty Maids, Nordic Union), Giant, Jimi Jamison, Doug Aldrich, Primal Fear, Seventh Wonder, Ammunition, Unleashed and many, many more.

Gathering Of Kings can best be described as a swedish AOR/Melodic Rock Phenomena-type-project. The yet untitled debut album will be produced, mixed and mastered by Thomas ”Plec” Johansson (Watain, Onslaught, Scar Symmetry, Solution. 45, The Night Flight Orchestra).

Gathering Of Kings have now confirmed the following artists:

VOCALS:
* Björn Strid (Soilwork, The Night Flight Orchestra)

LMAO reading this thread....

I hadn't heard about it (or paid any attention to it) before seeing the news that Erik Martensson would be involved...

This is just crazy. I suppose it could be good but mostly I think it's feel like some compilation CD if they actually have different guys singing lead on various tracks.

Sounds like a very poor idea to me.

 That's only because half the band is your beloved Night Flight Orchestra, isn't it? The majority of music fans have no idea who those guys are. ;)

Oh, the guy from Spoilwork! You should have told me. I absolutely love their... uh... that time they did that... uh... oh, when they recorded that... uh... who?!

Seriously, if Soilwork us meant to be a well known band I must have missed that memo. Didn't they only record two pointless nu-metal albums about 10 years ago that probably faded into oblivion as soon as they were recorded?

All jokes aside, for the audience I believe they're trying to cater two, the only two names in that list that I have any time at all for are Chris Laney and Eric Martensson. I don't know the other dudes from a bar of soap. I know there's the new bass player for Treat which is cool, but he's hardly an established name in the genre at all.

Project renamed: Gathering of One King (and Lots of Peasants)

Anyway, are they going to stop gathering someday, and really start to play?

Oh no, they are just meeting for a BBQ...felt we should all know about it

Classic. Your previous comment made me want to watch this again. I don't think I give this one enough credit, because I always talk about The Life of Brian.

MARTIN SWEET JOINS NEW MELODIC ROCK PROJECT GATHERING OF KINGS

It is with great pleasure that we can announce our thirteenth king. As one of the guitarists and songwriters, please welcome Mr. Martin Sweet!

Martin Sweet is the lead guitarist of Swedens glam metal leaders CRASHDÏET, with 4 albums and 2 grammy nominations behind them, the band has been spreading their decadent sleaze rock around the globe since 2003.

Martin has produced and co written with acts such as SISTER and GEMINI FIVE, as well as Mick Mars from MÖTLEY CRÜE.

As of Januari 2016 he is the bass player of Swedish punk metal act Sister.

Do we know for sure this is a real project, or is Stefan just trolling us?

    • Have to agree....Absolutely killer album!  I've been through it a handful of times now and I swear the more I listen, the more I like it.       I don't know if it'll be my top album but it's definitely right there among my favorites this year. Have picked up their last album too and will be checking that out closer once I can get the new one out of my CD player Not sure how these guys slipped under my radar.  Good stuff.
    • Yeah I know what you mean. I did a search and didn't see it either at first. It's not the first time and probably won't be the last.
    • Old photo of the entrance to Tower Records at Eastport Plaza.  This is like walking directly back in time 25+ years.  I even remember what part of the store I found the Roxy Blue CD
    • Yeah I was sure there was one somewhere.
I did a search for Steel City in the subject line.
I think my mistake was that I put a space between steel and city
    • Really like this track, will have to check out the Ascension album...
    • "Want Some?" was easily one of my favorite CD's in the 1992 time-frame.  I remember specifically purchasing my copy at Tower Records at Eastport Plaza in Portland, Oregon late summer 1992.  No idea how I remember such specific (and often useless) information, but I also purchased Angel City "Face To Face" on CD the same day. Roxy Blue "Want Some" / Hardline "Double Eclipse" / Def Leppard "Adrenalize" / Bon Jovi "Keep The Faith" / Bangalore Choir "On Target" / Electric Angels "ST"  These are the discs that were in CONSTANT rotation in my system 1992 / 1993.  Yes, certainly there were others, but I pretty much wore the aforementioned titles out! Getting back on-track to the topic at-hand... I don't hold-out enormous hope based on the "Different sound" comment, but Frontiers is a great label, so we'll see.  I think more of a problem (for me, anyway), is it is no longer 1992, and I'm no longer a youthful 24 year-old looking to hang-on to the genre I knew and loved dating back to the early 1980's at a time when a "new" sound was taking over the airwaves.
    • Here's me repeating the same thread in April
    • Here's a thread you replied to
    • NOLA is one of my favorite CD's. Not one bad song.
    • Couldn't find a thread for this one. After a few listens I've decided that these are the songs I really like off the album.

Decent enough, and worth picking up.

      01 Do You Love Me
      04 Picture Of Beauty
      05 Too Little Too Late
      06 Someone Like You
      08 Shame On You
