A reissue of Phoenix Down plus a bonus CD loaded with unreleased songs? What's not to like? Click the link below to check out my full review of Kane Roberts: "Unsung Radio."

The "new" songs "Wrong" and "One Step to Heaven" alone make this one worth purchasing, and the sound quality is pretty darn good for what are basically demos.

Sadly I am passing due to the fact he issued it in cdr format. Ugg!

Hmmm...I was not aware of that fact, as I used a promo download to do the review. But since the songs (the demos, I mean) aren't available anywhere else, wouldn't it be better to have them in CDR format than not have them at all? I understand not forking over for the Phoenix Down reissue, as that is available elsewhere as a regular silver-pressed CD, but if there are good songs that only exist on CDR (or digitally--those bonus tracks are available on iTunes), then I would never hesitate to snag them in whatever format was available.

For me, no. I'm not paying money for a cdr. A silver press of this? I'd already have it in my hands! :)

Jeez this is good stuff. I'll give it a few more spins soon and some ratings, but I heard it for the first time today and really loved it. I mainly speak of the demos because we already know how good the Phoenix Down CD is.

The thing that really makes me wonder here is that, according to the commentary, it sounds like Kane is still passionate about his music, and there is no doubt the guy has a talent for song writing. There are some brilliant hooks throughout this, and not just in the choruses. Some very well crafted verses all over it too. So why has he been so silent for so long, with no projects that I know of on the horizon? I really love all his work, and these demos are no exception. As Mark hints at above, the production quality on the demos is great, sadly, even better than the Phoenix Down album, to be honest. It's a real great collection of tunes and utterly essential for any fan of Kane Roberts.

Kane is reissuing the CD again, this time as a single disc. It will have a few tracks from the Phoenix Down which fans told him were the better ones, some of the demo songs from the other disc, a few few demo songs that were not on the two disc release. Not an ideal way of getting those missing songs out there, but better to buy this version as well and get them than not get them at all.

I have to ask the question...silver or cdr?

My understanding is that this will POD (Print On Demand). In other words...CDR.
