Rock Candy is a BOOTLEG!

Recommended Posts

..... I don't know anyone who has a silver cd that doesn't play.

Me either. If it doesn't, it either was badly manufactured and didn't play from Day 1 or they treated the CD like shit and are complaining that their scratched CD doesn't play.

yeah but you're essentially only paying for the artwork as a physical cd-r can be picked up pretty easily by anyone fan or not .

CD-rs have a shelf life though of about 10 years if you're lucky, less or more depending on various conditions. With a pressed disc, you'll be able to listen to it 100 years from now.

Not true at all - all cd's have a shelf-life.

You are right, my point was one should still expect that a properly pressed CD will last much longer than a properly burned CD-r. And of course the years I said are mostly estimates, based on that.

Another release never officially released on CD has been booted:

http://www.ebay.com/...=item3cd022ff7c

Smash L.A. - Law n' Authority

One of the lines from the description pretty much says it all:

"This is a rare 10 song CD from amazing Canadian hair metal band Slash L.A. which released their album on cassette tape in 1989."

That's right.... cassette tape, not CD.

This auction says it's a silver at least.

I agree Sam...most small labels and others release CD'R's also at the request of the artist...I am see an increase in bands from the 80's also releasing their material on cd'r similar to McQueen St's second cd. I have cdr's that I am playing to this day...awesome sound from 13 years ago....

Oh, if he was selling them for $9.99-14.99, I have absolutely no problem admitting that I'd pick one up... it's the whole "this is a rare CD" bullshit that chaps my ass. Once again, and I think most here agree, if you're going to sell a boot, be upfront about it and don't pretend that it's some long lost rarity!

I realize it's on eBay, but you could tack on "this is an un-official, silver pressed release, and most buyers would know it's a boot without the seller having to actually come right out and say it. This guy is going out of his way to make it seem legit with all the matrix and catalog numbers. But hey, whatever....

Yeah, that's exactly what I would do. It's proven...cdr's last for shit. I'm straight up telling you I would download it before buying a fucking cdr. If it's the band doing it, then THEY are the stupid ones.

First of all what the FUCK "This Cd DOES NOT HAVE a noise, sound clicks or crackles that you can hear at some releases which sells some labels such FNA or Retrospect Records and other cd-r makers around the globe."

WHAT THE FUCK?? NEVER have I had anyone tell me my releases have pops and crackles. FUCK THIS WELSH CUNT.

#2 - I also approached SMASH LA about releasing their shit and they told me that they weren't interested in releasing any of their old material and never had pressed any to cd's. But of course, this dude will make bank - not that I give a fuck about that as much as the SLANDERING of my company. :hammer:

There are 2 Rock Candy-Sucker for a Pretty Face cds on ebay right now. One from the U.K. the other is from Brazil.

U.K. Same guy, Brazil is Adriano.

I bought one as well for next to nothing just to have a silver pressing. If the band were to ever actually issue it, I would buy it as well.

I'm curious about this copy the dude was selling on ebay. I agree with everyone that the guy should mention the fact that this is a boot, and the price he's asking is ridiculous. But does anyone know what the quality is like on it?

If the quality is good I would at least pay $20 or $30 for a copy of it, but if it's just the same 192kbps mp3 garbage that I've found online this dude should seriously stop selling these.

The 192kbps mp3 sounds awful. I've been looking all over for a better copy of mainly just the track Breakin' All The Rules cause I have a really high quality copy of the music video, it's MPEG-2, my buddy recorded it for me from his Power Hour collection to DVDR in XP mode on his standalone DVD recorder, but unfortunately the sound quality is like mono audio, so bad you can barley even hear it.

Here's another boot someone just put up: http://www.ebay.com/itm/231131808788

Who is this guy talking about? 'showtime'?

I haven't seen anyone else selling selling these except for him and this dude: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200947537696

And anyone could tell that one is a bootleg.

Notice you never see the dude actually come out and say '1st Pressing'.

He might actually sell more if he did, but then I'm sure more people would be calling him on bullshit too.
