I know it wasn't DC Starr or Child's Play, it was the opening band, I had never heard of them back then, Hey LV KIX, as I was thinking back, was there a offshot band of Wrathchild called Milita or something like that?

The drummer Shannon Larkin , who is now with Godsmack, had a few bands while he was with Wrathchild. Militia was one of them. He also fronted a punk influenced metal band called Kiddie Porn.

I like'em all to one extent or another (even the widely hated SHOW BUSINESS) but my faves would be MIDNITE DYNAMITE and HOT WIRE. Of course, BLOW MY FUSE was their lone "hit" and it's a great album, but the problem with it is the production blows goats. That album needs a remix/remaster like nobody's business.

Cool Kids...have a bit of a new wave (Cars-ish) vibe to some of the cuts.

I was just listening to COOL KIDS earlier today. It's something of a mish mash but I can dig the Cars/new wave influence, I also hear some Cheap Trick vibe.

The video for the title track always cracks me up. All them city kids in greaser jackets, skinny ties and 80s haircuts rockin' out in the streets! It's like an outtake from "Square Pegs" gone horribly wrong.

So true about the production on BLOW MY FUSE - It BLOWS!

Cool Kids came on the radio the other day. I was in the weight room with about 6 teenage boys. No one had even heard of Kix. Very disappointing....

Unfortunately, I am among those who have never seen Kix. :crying:

When I upgraded my old cassette copy of BLOW MY FUSE to CD some years back, I listened to the disc for the first time and thought "Wow, so it really did sound that bad all along." For a very long time I had assumed my cassette copy had gotten worn out from repeated plays but nope, the production simply sucks, it sounds very muffled and hollow. Like the band were playing at the bottom of a well, and the recording equipment was at the top.

I had the same experience when I upgraded Twisted Sister's STAY HUNGRY and Metallica's AND JUSTICE FOR ALL to CD ... great albums, horrible production/sound quality!!!!

Did you pick up the 25th anniversary edition of Stay Hungry?? Or the re-recorded Still Hungry?? GREAT sound quality on those.. And I didn't think Justice was really bad sound quality Myself, but then I haven't played that album in quite some time either.....

Just go :D :D

Turns out it was probably a good thing I couldn't go... cuz we've been having massive thunder & lightning storms here all afternoon. Even if the show went on, I wouldn't wanna be out in that crap anyway.,.

Anybody got any obscure KIX demos?

I think Dave would be the one to ask.

I've got a couple discs worth of stuff... some early demos that were later included on releases and some other unreleased stuff.

Man I would give my left nut to hear some of that stuff!! Seriously, though I'll send you some cash for some mp3s. I think we've traded before.

The summer of 1989, it was called 5 bands for 5 bucks in Kansas City at Sandstone, an outdoor venue. It was Warrant, Kix, Dangerous Toys (and I think XYZ and The Front were the last 2 but I can't remember right off anymore). One of the my favorite concerts I've seen, and I've seen a lot.

Their stage backdrop was lightning bolts from the Blow My Fuse album cover, and ironically just as it got dark and they were playing, a huge thunderstorm rolled through, so they ended up having real lightning as their backdrop, and they didn't even stop the show. It was killer (and extremely wet so I'm amazed nobody got killed with all the lightning and water around).

I was there and it was awesome!! It was like Woodstock with all the rain and mud, naked chicks, etc.. It rained so hard we took shelter in the gals bathroom (darn the luck)!! Man what a show!! Was it The Wild as the other band? Both local KC bands I think... What a great summer party!! I would go again in a heartbeat!
