Rock Gone Wild cancelled?

Hmmm, I dunno, I sent them an email Monday asking if my campsite ticket was still valid. They replied yesterday saying "yes".

Maybe it is not valid for a rock festival. "Go ahead man, camp all you want" <crickets>

I got the same message. Looks like it's done. I'm glad I didn't buy tickets even though I wanted to go to see Tyketto soooo bad.

Sounds like a big mess for many fans and many screwings financially. Wonder who the 'bad guy' will turn out to be in the end after many questions are answered...like:

Did the casino have a fine print clause that allowed them to break the contract if RGW planners didn't meet a certain part of the contract? Did RGW planners really have signed contracts/licenses/agreements with the venue set in stone before they even planned the festival there? Would the casino really risk a big lawsuit by breaking a valid contract?

Guess you can only wait for the real answers after the rumours and fighting have settled.

That sucks. Those of you who had tickets (Uncle Saxon was one), I suggest y'all pool your money, buy bazookas, and blow the f**kers' houses up.

Unless there is a clause in the contracts the bands signed, the deposit should still be refundable.

The non-refundable deposit thing usually only comes into force if the person paying the deposit pulls out or no shows.

If the promoter cancels, then they should be liable to return the funds, and if they dont, I would think the bands have a good grounds for legal action.

Looks like they made it official on their website with the same message posted above.

I called the cell phone number of that attorney because I bought a ticket as well and he actually answered. He said he cannot comment on anything at this time and to keep checking back the Rock Gone Wild home page. When I pressed him a bit about the refund he said he has only been involved for 2 days and his job is to "try to make sure this rock festival happens".

I don't see how the rock festival can happen. The bands have probably all altered their touring plans and after this crap probably wouldn't come if they were told it was on again.

To think I could have came out to Dakota Rock Fest and met some of you fine folks, saw a boob get autographed, and actually been at a cool festival.

Wow, I've heard so much crap about "what actually happened" with this show it's hard to take it all in. Some of it's a little outrageous and some of it makes me go "hmmmm"

One thing that bothers me ... A LOT ... though. I went and read through the Fever Talk (??) message board for the first time the other night and it was a bit disturbing and disgusting how the Rocklahoma and Rock Gone Wild fans / crews were tearing each other apart. Do the Wacken and Bang Your Head people do this? Hell no they don't. They're actually friendly towards each other and support one another. Last night I was even told about a few people who were gloating and "celebrating" the cancellation of the "Scam Gone Wild." Who does this?? A 12 year old??

Yup that's pretty damn stupid to be happy that a festival that would support our fav music genre would be cancelled. Some people are just fucking stupid plain and simple. I had really wanted to go to this but it's just easier for me to hit Dakota Rock Fest but just because I went to that festival I'm not gonna talk trash about other festivals.

Next year my friend.

Amen to that!

And since I didn't get a festival fix this year I can't wait to see what DRF has for next year!

I just checked the fevertalk.net forums and it looks to be down now. I'm surprised it took that long.

I think what caused the riff goes all the way back to the first Rocklahoma. JPot did the contests that gave bands a chance to play Rocklahoma if they weren't invited. JPot is owned by Nathalie. Not sure what happened after Rocklahoma 07', but the association of JPot with Rocklahoma ended sometime after that. She supposedly owned both the fevertalk.com and fevertalk.net domain names. According to her Rocklahoma stole the domain fevertalk.com from her. Catch The Fever ending the partnership and stealing her domain is what created the bad blood. Nat posted regularly and became friends with most of the people on there. As people started to complain about whatever things started to fall apart on the message boards. Catch The Fever started cracking down on the message boards and people took sides. There were many people who were disatisfied with Rocklahoma. Nat had a new fest that promised to be everything Rocklahoma wasn't. Nat started the .net forums and most of the people jumped ship. The .com forum went from a busy forum to a near dead forum. People were disatisfied with Rocklahoma and became even more ticked off by the censoring on the forums. The fact that people believed Nat had also been wronged by Catch The Fever made them even more loyal to her. She could do no wrong.

Nat wanted to one up Catch The Fever. She took shots at Sam and others involved with Rocklahoma. When the thing came crashing down could you not help but take a little joy in her downfall if you were one of the people she was hurling insults at?

Ahhhh, so she started acting like a 12 year old first. Stupidity from all angles then. Why would she have to one up anyone (rhetorical question)??? If you're pissed at someone and want to "take them down a notch" then do it over time. Build a brand and make it last.

I'm not 100% sure who started it first, but I know she was actively involved. I was an active poster on the original forums. When Catch The Fever cracked down on the boards and it split into two seperate forums I quickly lost interest. The intelligence level at the .net forums was at a level that hurt my head to try and read. I never posted at the .com forums again because of the fact that no matter what you said things had a way of disappearing. I haven't really read much of either forum over the past year or so. About the only time I went there was to look for info. It just seemed like there was always a lot of animosity between both forums. Strange considering it all started off as one?

I'm probably not the best one to ask, but that's things as I saw them. There has to be others who posted on those forums who post here too.

A bit off topic but I just received my copies of Farcry High Gear, Tango Down Damage Control and Bombay Black Mercy from John over at Kivel (ultra quick by the way). Unwrapping the plastic a few minutes ago I thought I heard the Pointer Sister's "I'm So Excited" playing somewhere in the distance. Anyway, I couldn't help but think the music on these cd's would make me feel a bit better about Rock Gone Wild...or should I say Rock Going Going Gone.

This RGW debacle is a clusterfuck of epic proportions. This makes the Lonnie scandal look like a petty theft.

Jacob is right - RGW started with the peeps involved wanting a little vindication against Rocklahoma for getting ousted out. Over one year in the planning , 50+ bands , over 4,000 ticket sales and 2 venues later the whole thing tanks. Complete incompetence on the part of the promoters / organizers and this Frizzell guy (FYI also from Arkansas - surprise surprise) , well his rep is mud now. If you'd spent money on RV Rental / Hotel Rooms , plane tickets , time off work , event tickets and such - how would you feel knowing you were getting NO money back? Jeez - it really is sad.

Rocklahoma will always be in my good books for being so organized and just being an all-round great experience. I am surprised more H.H. members don't go to Rocklahoma - I am hoping to entice most of you to give it a shot in 2010. I think you'll be quite impressed with the line-up. I can tell you right now who I am going after for the smaller acts...

Wildside , Shark Island , Babylon AD , Tuff , Tyketto , Brighton Rock , Cry Wolf , Roughhouse , Steel Panther , Praying Mantis , Defcon plus the return of D'Molls , Baton Rouge , Icon , Silent Rage , Lord Tracy , Pair-a-dice , Mariah , Mad Margritt and quite a few others...

Come give it a shot in 2010 , VIP tickets are only $250 and its gonna be a killer show!! Don't worry about the heat - all sidestage tents will be cooled and the VIP tent is always cool.

Incidentally , I have a whole boat-load of new releases out so I better get a press release to Dan.

ROCK ON!
