The perfect melodic rock song

Glen

Recommended Posts

Unruly Child - To Be Your Everything

Big-time backed. My all-time favorite pure melodic rock song.

I agree on that one too and now that I think about it this might be one of the only things we've ever agreed on.

... but 'Who cries now' is better. :)

Wham - Wake Me Up

 That and Nickleback - Getting Reached Around were quality.

"Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" - Culture Club

Big-sounding drums, beefy guitars, huge gang backing vox and soaring melodies.

...Not.

Big time backed! how's about the Thompson Twins Hold Me Now, huge synthetic layers of fantasy sounding background harmonys, deep grenade pounding drums, ear splitting razor distorted guitars, on a million dollar production line, good good shit.

So many great songs have been listed here already.....

I'll throw in a few more right off the top of my head;

Signal - "Does It Feel Like Love"

Y&T - "Summertime Girls"

Mitch Malloy - "Stranded In the Middle of Nowhere"

Bangalore Choir - "If The Good Die Young (We'll Live Forever)"

Saints & Sinners - "Lesson Of Love"

Kane Roberts - "Rebel Heart"

I could go on and on, but I'll stop there......for now.

Mitch Malloy - "Stranded In the Middle of Nowhere"

Oh, good call. That and 'Nobody wins in this war' are two of the best out there.

Backed 100% - easily the 2 best songs off that album and 2 of the best songs period

Yep double-backed.

One I didn't mention - and it's more AOR than Melodic Rock - is:

ROBBY VALENTINE - Only Your Love

Several of his tunes would count in this category, including the mighty "The Way to Get Home", but this is the ultimate....

I didn't read all the posts but I'll toss a few out there for debate...may not all exactly fit the format you're debating, but...

MSG - Gimme Your Love / Anytime

Shy England - Love On The Line (poorly produced but I've always like choruses that alternate between solo and group vocals...most probably do, but in a very distinct way)

Alias - Haunted Heart

Beau Nasty - Gemini

Every Mother's Nightmare - Sympathy

White Lion - Broken Heart

Triumph - Turn My Back On Love

Giant - Innocent Days

Seventh Key - You Cross The Line

Of course I'll back the Tyketto - Forever Young posts from earlier! :P

Saraya - When You See Me Again

Somebody else mentioned this one too. To me, the song isn't 100% perfect (just 95%) but in all honesty, that chorus is as good as anything ever gets. Simply stunning. One of the best ever.
