The Whitesnake, Talon, Michael Bormann and Brother Firetribe are all excellent from his list.

Depends on who you ask...Whitesnake was good as was Bormann but the other two blew imo. But hey, if someone else likes them more power to them ;)

Well I feel the same way about most of the Modern shit you listen to so oh well.

That's because you're brain is rotted with weed and Judas Priest...

You are not trying to compare Modern Rock with one of the greatest Metal bands of all time, are you(that would be Judas Priest just in case you're a little slow  )?

Who are you?

Haha, Rafo's is probably the list I agree with most so far, to be honest.

Anyway, I stopped handling my list towards the end of the year so this is how I'm going to call it an end to the year:

Melodic HR:

1. ROCKARMA - Bring it

 Dude, you rock! If you ever come to Jersey, I owe you a pink drink or six. :beerbang:

I'd take you up on that! :)

Seriously, I hope you know the way I operate well enough to know I didn't just put it there because I'm in love with the guitari- uh, because my good e-buddy is the guitarist. Of all the CDs I heard this year, it seriously had the most songs I truly loved, right up my alley on it. Just like Blind Date did a few years ago, it brought my right back to the sound I live for. Nice work mate.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm late to the party but after much pulling of hair and gnashing of teeth, I finally got my "Best of 2008" list compiled for Detritus 'zine over the weekend. It was a tough job cuz I didn't acquire nearly as many CDs this year as I usually do (frickin economy!), and of the ones I did acquire, there were fewer 2008 releases to choose from -- much of what I got was from '07 and prior. So for what it's worth, here's my top 10 of 2008. (NOTE: Some of these were released overseas in '07 but didn't get a US release till '08. So don't bother posting any nitpicky replies saying "so-and-so came out in 2007!")

Bad Biscut - WE STILL BELIEVE THE HYPE

Circle II Circle - DELUSIONS OF GRANDEUR

Dokken - LIGHTNING STRIKES AGAIN

Helstar - SINS OF THE PAST

Jon Oliva's Pain - GLOBAL WARNING

Pyramaze - IMMORTAL

The Stoned - S/T

Pharaoh - BE GONE

Motorhead - MOTORIZER

Testament - THE FORMATION OF DAMNATION

Pleasantly surprised by:

Metallica - DEATH MAGNETIC

"Meh, Whatever:"

Judas Priest - NOSTRADAMUS

Iced Earth - THE CRUCIBLE OF MAN: SOMETHING WICKED PART 2

Ignored on Purpose:

Guns N Roses: CHINESE DEMOCRACY

Most Disappointing:

X-Sinner: WORLD COVERED IN BLOOD

Cutest Guitarist:

Rockarma - BRING IT!

Thought I'd missed one. 'Glasshouse' is still a great disc

The new one is out 1st March - seems to be only 7 tracks, so only an EP. maybe.

Yeah, good luck ever playing that Whitesnake album again. How the hell on earth did you fool yourself into putting that into the 3rd spot, above a bunch of great albums? Apart from how average it is, it has the replay value of a horseshoe.

The HEAT stuff more than BF. But yeah, honestly, I play that kind of stuff in every day life, but my listening habits are so completely out of whack at the moment, whilst rating my whole collection, that it's hard to comment. But yes, HEAT do get regular plays. And BF...

Stuff like that Whitesnake album will 100% be in my sell list when I finally get around to listing an abundance of my albums for sale. HEAT and BF will definitely not be.

My fave of 2008 was and still is the Work Of Art.

Can't believe it was that long ago.

True - i still think of Work of Art as a 'new' band but they have been around for nearly a decade.

Easily this is my favorite WOA release. Yesterday I was talking with Robert about Her Only Lie. Immortal tune.
