Decyfer Down: "End of the Grey" was one of my favorite Christian hard rock/metal albums of 2006, and now they have a new CD ("Crash") coming out in early '09. You can hear one new song on their MySpace page (Decyfer Down Myspace Page) and it sounds pretty darn good.

I love this band...consider me stoked!!!

End of Gray was a pretty good album. Had a few well known people involved in it too... T Palacios and someone else..

Yeah, I have to admit the debut was a pretty good disc for a nu-metal band... and I'm still interested in these guys. Will definitely look forward to the new album.

Just got done spinning 'Crash' yesterday. Not too bad, I have to admit.

I skipped halfway through the first song and thought, okay, here we go - they're still a boring nu-metal band (even though their debut is pretty decent... even for a nu-metal disc) and I was planning to skip through most of it. But the second song turned out to be really good. Very strong chorus.

Overall, there were about 3 or 4 more songs I still skipped for being dreary nu-metal, but there are some really, really strong choruses/hooks on this one. Fans of Shinedown may dig this, as well as Trust Company fans. This is really not my preferred style of music at all, but I counted about 5 or 6 really strong ballad-style songs which definitely deserve another spin.

One issue I had was with the sound/production. Much thinner than the debut, but I hope I am just listening to an unfinished pre-release. Reminds me of the weaker sounding 2nd Shinedown CD.

Based on their two songs I just heard on myspace, I will be avoiding the new cd. I got rid of the first one pretty quick and I don't see them stepping their game up much for the sophmore effort either.

Yeah, I think that was just a pre-release. The finished product sounds great.

So did anyone else give this a go? Some seriously good songs on this one. Well worth a listen for most fans of modern rock, I feel.
