"Modern" Music to Check Out

Surprised I haven't made a thread for these guys in the past, but the ever-reliable A Day To Remember have released another fine album. It's called 'Bad Vibrations.'

1 - Bad Vibrations
2 - Paranoia
3 - Naivety
4 - Exposed
5 - Bullfight
6 - Reassemble
7 - Justified
8 - We Got This
9 - Same About You
10 - Turn Off The Radio
11 - Forgive And Forget
12 - Negative Space
13 - In Florida
A couple of my favourite tunes;
I was also pretty impressed with the new Crown The Empire album, 'Retrograde.' Gone are the post-hardcore screams, and what's left is actually a pretty good, catchy modern hard rock/metal disc;
1 - Sk-68
2 - Are You Coming With Me?
3 - Zero
4 - Aftermath
5 - Hologram
6 - The Fear Is Real
7 - Lucky Us
8 - Weight Of The World
9 - Signs Of Life
10 - Oxygen
11 - Kaleidoscope

I am liking the new ADTR album but it's nowhere near as good as 'Homesick'

Nah, to be honest it's one of their weaker recent albums, but I do find them very reliable even when they're not at their absolute best. I'd put it behind 'Homesick,' 'Common Courtesy' and 'What Separates me from you.'

But, considering they're all 80%+ albums in my eyes, it's hardly a bad thing. :)

Agreed

Good band although I think they would be even better if they toned down a lot of the screaming , their best songs are the ones with no screams IMO

That Crown the empire looks interesting , will check that one out

To be honest, I didn't expect a single scream on the ADTR disc, considering the direction they seemed to be heading in on recent albums. I agree they're better without them.

this song is hard to miss constantly on the radio, but I love it, and I've been checking out remixes of it too, they're great!

The Weeknd & Daft Punk - Starboy (Kygo remix)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dejYN7-ISjQ

Starboy (Amateon Remix)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMMaY7aw8Eo

I think this thread is dedicated to "Modern" Rock.

Anyway, I love Daft Punk, and I love The Weeknd, but when I first heard "Starboy" I thought, what part of this is Daft Punk? It doesn't really sound like Daft Punk. However, when I heard "I Feel It Coming" I was like, this is Daft Punk! Sure enough I was right. Now that song I absolutely adore!!

I have thought about this idea but figured most people just don't care and the ones that do already take notice. I'll add the best to this thread if it stays alive, but to begin with a few essentials I couldn't live without, and that I think everyone should hear are:

Cauterize

http://www.myspace.com/cauterized

Change of Pace

http://www.myspace.com/achangeofpace

Just Surrender

http://www.myspace.com/justsurrenderrock

Hedley

http://www.myspace.com/hedley

Funeral for a Friend (especially 'Tales don't tell themselves'):

http://www.myspace.com/funeralforafriend

Yellowcard (especially 'Paper Walls')

http://www.myspace.com/yellowcard

Story of the Year

http://www.myspace.com/storyoftheyear

This made me laugh. Not because of the bands listed, but because of all those MySpace links. ;}

Remember when that was a thing?

Brand New is an American rock band. They have released 4 albums till date. I checked their songs on YouTube but didn't really like most of them. I would say the song I have posted on this thread is their best and the only one I like.

Oh lol, sorry, I missed that it was Brand New. Yeah, I think I've heard most of their album but I agree, they're not very good. I still have 'Your favourite weapon' somewhere, but I can't even think of a song from it.

I'm surprised I haven't mentioned these guys before. They've been releasing good albums for quite a while now. Their latest is called 'All These Countless Nights' and whilst it's not amazing, it'll appeal to people who like what's become of Young Guns.

acca482559c124dfe81f237ce6b2957a.jpg

1 - Ashes, Ashes
2 - Trigger
3 - L.O.V.E
4 - Happiness
5 - Fever
6 - Like a Ghost
7 - Pretty Low
8 - England
9 - Seattle
10 - St. Paul's
11 - Sing
12 - Pensacola, 2013
13 - Cassiopeia (Bonus Track)
Some really fine songwriting on display on this album;
The album;
I've actually not heard their debut myself, but if you like this check out their other stuff. My introduction to the band was 'Fools & Worthless Liars,' which I think is a very nice album.
2009 - Meet Me Halfway, at Least
2011 - Fools and Worthless Liars
2013 - Old Souls
2017 - All These Countless Nights

These guys have been around for a while too, and the new album isn't perfect, but it's got some good stuff on it.

There's fillers on this album, but it's not bad. Here's one of the singles from it;

Yep awesome song.

As I was listening it reminded me of another California song. This...

Atherton - California

zomfg, I love 'Laguna Beach!' As for the songs, I think I prefer the Mallory Knox one. ;)

The Everyday anthem sound pretty cool , must definitely check that out and the Suburbia story ones sound nice too

I've tried to get into Mallory Knox but can't for some reason

Those two are good catchy releases.

I'm not overall a fan of Mallory Knox either, and don't like their previous albums. This one is still patchy as hell, but the good songs (there are only a handful of them) are much better than before. I love the good songs off it. But they're limited. ;)

I stumbled upon these guys recently and i am really liking what i hear , a bit of too close to touch in their sound although a bit heavier

Not bad, I think they'd be a lot better if they lost the alternate, screamo vocals and just left it with the primary vocalist

The both sound great - Secrets and Life Awaits. I'll check out both. Jeez that Secrets band sounds familiar. I thought it was the product of Namesake disbandoning but I don't believe it is.
