I know Stryper was (and still is) the butt of a lot of jokes ("Bumblebees for God"), but I love the hell, er, heck, out of the band, and voted for "Yellow & Black Attack."

In the second half, I cast the sole (at this time, anyway) vote for Sinner: "Danger Zone." One of my favorite metal bands, criminally-underrated, IMO.

Some damn good ones here. I went with my 2 personal faves from the year that get the most rotation:

Twisted Sister - Stay Hungry

Grim Reaper - See You In Hell

Absolute classics!!

1) IRON MAIDEN - Powerslave

2) JUDAS PRIEST - Defenders Of The Faith

3) SCORPIONS - Love At First Sting closely followed by PRETTY MAIDS - Red, Hot & Heavy

Back in 1984 there were so many great releases, one of the best (ever) JAG PANZER's Ample destruction :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::cartman:

I have to secont that: Ample Destruction is one of the very best heavy metal gems from the 80s; every truly dedicated metalhead should have this in their collection.Had it been in the list, i would have put it above Dio's Last in Line(which is damn high).

Yup it's a good album and a classic for sure and I mistakenly missed it when I put this poll together way back then. However I remember trying to do my best to not have to many underground type albums out there so everyone around here had something they could vote for but that one should of been on there especially when you consider how big of a Panzer fan I am. :anon:

Man, I can't believe I missed this poll, it was an easy one for me.

RATT - Out Of The Cellar

IRON MAIDEN - Powerslave

Both all time great albums IMO. :headbanger:

But maybe I shouldn't of included the Ratt in this poll but in my quest to have something for everyone I kept them in besides in 1984 they were considered Metal by the mainstream media and MTV.

yes, this is the usual thing. everything what $$$ tell is right? some may say that 80's pantera are metal also, although they were a crappy glam band(and this isn't my saying-not that i don't agree-but what other bands of that era said who played with them).......

and jag panzer underground? ok, they went from colorado's mountain to eat shitty junk food in LA, but ample destruction, probably, is the most bootlegged album evah....10-15 different cd versions(most boots), 7-8 different vinyl versions in all colours availiable and various covers......obviously and thankfully some people don't need crappy major mags or MTV to tell them what's the next trendy metal band.....

To be honest is was a "crappy major mag(azine)" that tunred me on to Jag Panzer.

Paul Gargano of Metal Edge did a review for "The Fourth Judgment" and it made me buy the cd and now they're one of my fav bands and that is one of my fav albums ever.

So the lesson is sometimes a crappy magazine can get it right.

Yes but up to that point that mag wasn't reviewing many Metal album or Century Media releases.

    • Not much information on the video's page, other than it appears to be an AI creation. Once it gets into the verse and especially the chorus, it's actually not too bad IMO.
    • While I appreciate your interest in contributing to the site, most of the artists and albums you are submitting are either REALLLLLLY stretching the boundaries, or as in the case of this band, completely off the mark. No alternagrunge. No punk. No death metal/power metal (although those can be submitted to Brutal Metal). You can always start a thread asking about a particular artist before blindly submitting it for inclusion. Thanks! -Dan
