3 songs are obviously either demos, alternate mixes or live tracks of songs already on the album, so are worthless.

1 is an instrumental, so once againg, worthless.

1 is a live cover version that I already own on a CD single

I think the issue a lot of people have with them now,is that they keep releasing stuff that is readily available elsewhere, instead of the hard to get or previously unreleased on CD stuff that they were doing superbly before. I used to buy a lot of their stuff, in the last year, barely anything at all.

I'm with Howdy on the D2. One of my favorite bands of all time but there is nothing here in the way of rare material. The bonus tracks look to be from the Down and Dirty Live ep. And why reissue it through Rock Candy when D2 owns the rights to their back catalogue themselves and sell them through their website already? And on top of that they just released Japanese blu spec reissues of the s/t and Screw It discs this month.

 

Totally awesome idea for a thread btw. I think a lot of people will find it resourceful with all the reissues surfacing constantly.

I purchased Stan Bush and Barrage and it was my first Rock Candy purchase I was expecting something great. Instead the CD just has a plain black label on it and the inner notes were saying that the Scotti Brothers deal wasn't lucrative and went on and on about stuff I could give a rats ass about. I guess it sounds OK I never heard the original Scotti Brothers pressing.

 

Yes why are they re-issuing all this common stuff and did they really purchase the masters from the record companies to be able to do this???????

 

They need to check out Stormspell's stuff now he knows how to make the total package look good.

As for the Rock Candy, don't they remaster what they are releasing as well? If so, I reckon it's not all about bonus content but improving the sound quality. I do agree though, I would be more interested in some rare OOP stuff than a lot of what they reissue.

To be honest, I don't really care for the whole remaster thing. If I'm about to upgrade my existing copy, the remaster won't cut it alone. There has to be some other extra value...bonus tracks for example. Come think of it: only bonus tracks will do.

 

If I don't already own a copy then that's a different matter...

 

As for Rock Candy, they were brilliant in the beginning but I think the quality isn't there anymore. I'm also a sucker for the OOP stuff.
