Cain Rising - S/T

Cain Rising are about to release their debut album. We've been recording since April and now it is finally mixed and mastered and just about to go to print in the next couple of weeks. It was recorded at Echo Studios in Buckingham, and was produced, mixed and mastered by Jamie Masters (Bernie Marsden, Romeo's Daughter amongst others). Style wise think of a mixture of Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, 'Lost Highway' era Bon Jovi, The Eagles and 'Americana' in general and you'll be about there.

We've put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this, so hopefully people will enjoy the fruits of our labour. Physical CD's should be available by the end of November/Beginning of December, as well as iTunes etc for downloads, so anyone who is interested, give me a shout and I'll keep you up to date with release dates etc. Soundbytes etc to follow

I just did the dumnest thing...feel free to hang shit on me for it.

I read this thread last night and thought to myself I should really give this a shot considering our very own Jez plays a part here.

So I got on my new Spotify account and searched for it then made it available for offline listening. This morning I plugged my phone into the stereo and turned it up really loud keen to hear Cain Rising for the first time.

The opener was excellent and while it wasn't my usual cup of tea, I really liked what I was hearing...fast, heavy, symphonic, huge guitar solos, fast (did I say that already)...etc...very nice!

But all the while I couldn't stop thinking...I know Jez likes a diverse range of music and certainly likes some heavy/smphonic metal as well, but this isn't the sort of band I would have envisioned Jez playing in.

So anyway I made it through the entire album and then made the embarrassing realisation that I was listening to the wrong band...it was Cain's Offering ?

Sorry Jez. The good news is I found Rising Cain on Spotify and will crank it up later today.

The rest of y'all should too if you haven't already...but make sure you get Rising Cain NOT Cain's Offering ok?

Lol..I haven't heard too much Cain's Offering except the excellent 'Gather The Faithful' and I can guarantee you it ain't anything like Cain Rising, unless they have recently started to sound like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty or The Eagles. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the album..let me know what you think ;)

Definitely hearing the Bruce Springsteen and Eagles influences. This has been timely as I have recently been enjoying a lot of stuff by Glenn Frey. I've got a mate who is a big Springsteen fan so will tell him about Cain Rising too. Well after a few plays of the entire album I can report that it's a real goodie. It has a great vibe and I though it was well produced- everything just sounds really clear. The backing vocals come through well kinda like some harmonies you'd hear on an Eagles album. The singer is great too and at times sounds a lot like Springsteen. Favourite track so far is 'When Johnny Walked the Line' followed by 'Save Me' and the opener 'The Rain'. Excellent stuff! I think anyone on these forums who enjoys the already mentioned bands- The Eagles, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty etc. Will certainly enjoy this.

Definitely some Bon Jovi in there, too.

And Poison, 'Look what the cat dragged in'-era. You really kind of honed in on that, Jez. ;)

Ok think I have this worked out now, it's not Rising Cain, Cain's Offering or Raise Cain...it's Cain Rising.

Seriously though, this album is really cool and I think others should give it a go.

 never heard of the other 2...I can see why it's confusing now, We actually got the name from the Springsteen song 'Adam Raised a Cain' if you really wanted to know :)

That guy's holding that gun like a knob. If he pointed a gun at me, I'd be more worried about the guy standing next to me.

As far as Jezzer's album is concerned, I'm still digesting it. I'd like to give it a proper review, as I do with all my friends' work. But I can say, if you like this type of Rock, you'll like this album.

No one need ever hear Raise Cain. Shitty pointless mid 90's metal. Very boring album.

Nice little ditty, mate, but in that video... the guy on bass... seriously, what's his deal? He's so... Jez-ish?

Anyway, hope this is going well for you, mate.

    • I posed him that exact question on his discord page as to what his future plans are.... He said he plans to relax for a bit, do his You Tube thing, keep writing new music and then will decide how to release that music.  He said as of now he's thinking he'll either do a solo thing or form his own band.  He didn't say this but I'd sort of envision a Daughtry type "band" where he kind of puts a band behind his name. So essentially, I think you're right on with his plans.  Ultimately, I think like you say, the control is a big part of it.  I think he wants to be able to operate on his own schedule to maintain his health and family obligations. It'll be interesting to see what sound the new material takes on.  It would seem logical to think it would be rock/melodic rock of some sort since that's really the type of music he's built his following with but he certainly has shown he can dabble anywhere from AOR to metal.
    • Glad I got to see them with Erik in front. All the best to him, definitely looking forward to his future outings when he is fully recovered. Would be cool to see him form his own band, where he could take control, and play around in different genres, from full on metal, to soothing AOR, the guy is so versatile.
    • Remedy - Crying Heart. One I've just seen thanks to the Iridium channel.  From the upcoming album. It's a Killer.
    • Let's not forget Benny Hill. What a Magnificent show that was.
    • Yeah... I dunno about that. It would be too cringe. Who knows? If I'm high enough, I might submit a video.
    • Yep great track and if you fancy being in the video for "The Feeling" nows your chance.
    • I'm proud to say that I had this single when I was a mere 8 years old. KISS were big down here then. Norman Gunston is Iconic for Aussies of my vintage.  The face ln the bottom left says it all. Hilarious.
    • All in all, this is a great story. Erik played a brilliant, well received, albeit short cameo with one of our favourite bands.  It was a win, win, win. A win for us, a win for Skid Row (the album certainly put them back on the map) and a win for Erik, adding this to his already impressive resume. The fact that it was so amicable with both parties is also great to see.
    • I really like this album - not every song on it but there are some surprisingly catchy melodies all over. Personally I think the singer adds great energy to the mix. It reminds me of the earlier Bai Bang ("closer to you")
