Lynch Mob - Sun Red Sun

Dear Lynch Mob - shut the fuck up!

Ha, nah, I'm kidding. Kind of. I definitely mean what I say, but the harshness in which I present my message could use some work. Sorry if any of the guys read this. But that just sounds like a collection of horses shit that some random farmer collected from his paddock this morning.

The reason Lynch Mob had a following is 100% because of how good their first two albums were. If they want to try to recreate that sound and hit us with some more classic 'No bed of roses'-sounding tunes, more power to 'em. But if we're going to be subjected to this fucking rubbish, change the band name and stop raping the memory of the great band Lynch Mob once were. This is awful. I'd rather listen to my penis. Yep, that's a full stop. My penis doesn't need to do anything for me to prefer listening to it. I'll just listen to it as it is, thanks, over this shit.

I agree Geoff. This isn't close to be "classic" Lynch Mob. More modern rubbish.

I'm not a big fan of their 1st 2 releases and this doesn't impress....and Lynch has got to be the most overrated guitarist ever....

Holy shit; harshest comment of the day, no doubt.

I personally thought George Lynch was the best guitarist of the early to mid 80's. That 'Under lock and key' disc especially is just intercourse with my ears in terms of guitar work. By the time Dokken ended and he formed Lynch Mob the scene was full of amazing guitarists, but back in those early years of the 80's he was my favourite, easily.

I also don't understand the dislike for the first two Lynch Mob discs. I kind of get the debut as there are a couple of fillers, but how people react more to those fillers than all the killer songs on there like the title track, 'Sweet sister mercy,' 'River of love,' 'Hell child,' 'No bed of roses' and 'Through these eyes;' I just don't get it. And for my money, there's not a weak song on the second disc. It's excellent. Even the cover of 'Tie your mother down' is pretty cool!

Anyway, to each their own. I think George Lynch and Lynch Mob were both excellent. But what has happened since those first two Lynch Mob discs is enough to make you weep. George Lynch and John Norum could have a fantastic battle for the crown of "Biggest Waste of Talent Ever." Both were amazing musicians who have not made a decent song in over 20 years now. Incredible wastes of incredible talent.

Yeah those songs you mention are fine, the rest of it is pretty so so to me.

Live they were f awful....so much so I left early. Zero connection with the audience and Lynch on a wank trip at every solo he got his fingers on.

Just a really overrated band.

Lynch himself is a great guitarist and as you say a wasted talent in recent years........love the early Dokken years.

Ha, I can actually agree with you on a live thing for once! Down here in 'Straya we don't get to see any/many bands live, but Lynch Mob is one I've actually had the displeasure of seeing live a few years back. I was so disappointed I wanted to break my nose just to keep me awake.

Because Oni Logan was on vocals they played none of their excellent 2nd album at all - not a single song. And they amazingly selected every song I didn't mention off the debut, so that I was left with listening to all the weaker songs off the debut and some of their new stuff. I think of all those songs I mentioned they may have played 'Wicked Sensation' as an encore... maybe. But for the entire concert, they just avoided any and all of their good songs all together. Totally agree about the complete lack of connection with the crowd (who probably also wanted the good songs too) and the guitar wank thing. It was super disappointing for me as we get so few live opportunities down here and to have one wasted like that was pretty painful.

yep Oni was on vox when we saw them and it was pretty much the same setlist.

They did play River of Love, but thankfully that was near the beginning ;-)

I may have been a bit harsh with the overrated guitarist comment  as i loved most of the Dokken music.....call it frustration at the crap he has put out since then...probably should have said "has become the most overrated guitarist"....

You only need half of the first lynch mob cd, all of the second, two thirds of sacred groove and all of the 80s dokken... Oh and half of dysfunctional. Umm, yep guitar legend ;)

two thirds of sacred groove

Generous. I think you meant to write two tenths, though? Only tracks worth a second look on that one are 'We don't own this world' and 'Not necessary evil.' The rest is terrible.

This is one terrible disc. I mean bad.

One listen to this disc has me disinterested in the next Lynch Mob CD on Frontiers next year..... not that I was very interested in this after Smoke & Mirrors and the Stone Mountain sessions garbage.

RUBBISH
