Yeah, that is a very strange title choice and the swearing thing is getting old.

I don't mind these guys, but i was hoping they'd step up a level.

River Pheonix was the subject of a song by Aussie band T.I.S.M. (This is serious Mum).

A very weird band from the early 90s i think. Unbelievably, these muppets actually had a moderate degree of success and developed a cult following.

The song title is a classic though.

I like the song just fine. Kool solo.

I guess enough time has passed that you can reference RP in a crash n burn type scenario. Probably wouldn't have been taken similarly if they would have swapped out RP for say Kurt Cobain or Chris Cornell or even Robyn Williams.

From what I read the band members (of Santa Cruz) are fans of River Phoenix and wanted to point to River's legacy living on even after his passing. They then drew a bit of a parallel to them being away for awhile and coming back strong. The title inititally gives a different impression, but that is my understanding. Anyway, as far as the song, not bad

Thanks for the insight. Spun it again and still like it.

How on earth is that receiving a lukewarm reception? I absolutely love that. And yeah, that solo is an absolute monster - most of theirs are. But yeah, love that song.

    • I'm sure you remember as I do the "Black and White Minstrel Show". These days it's incredible to think that this was considered wholesome family viewing at the time.  There's absolutely no way something like this would fly today.
