Too close To Touch

Heard a couple of songs off this tonight... really liked what I heard. I don't know if it's just because I've been listening to the Monty Are I albums this week and they're in my head, but this band reminded me of them. Can't wait to hear the full album.

Really, really nice. Only just found this band myself, but already looking forward to this new album. Love their sound/style.

Nah mate, still not heard them, but I'll make a point to check them out. I've seen their name around for ages... just don't think I ever heard them for whatever reason.

Holy shit, that is enormous. Absolutely love that. Will be sure to check this out asap.

Sorry I forgot to reply to the above, mate, but I did give Hands Like Houses a full and in-depth listen. Musically, they are excellent but I just struggled to find good hooks or memorable choruses on their albums. A good sounding band, but not enough hooks to keep me interested. I think that 'Colourblind' song was my favourite of all of theirs.

I used to be all over stuff like this but not so much now - it is good but i find it a real hard listen with those big frantic almost shouted choruses.

Maybe im getting old lol

I like this album plenty, but I just realised something tonight. If you show me an individual song from this at any given time I think it's quite divine. But my only minor issue with the full album is that back to back, there is very very little variation between these songs.

'Sympathy' is my favourite song on the album, but there's at least half a dozen songs on the album (at least) which kind of follow the same formula. It's a good formula, but if it was me, I'd have included a few uptempo numbers to mix it up. A very, very good band but the album needs a bit more variation for me.

I listened to this album on Friday night on the drive up the coast to my brother's place. I think I said the same thing above - it is a really, really good album. The songs are individually great (especially that one), but by christ they're all but identical in structure. I'd absolutely love a new album from them with majority uptempo tracks, with a handful of these ones in the mix. Really, really good stuff... but the greatness gets bogged down in the sameness at times.

I assume any fan of these guys picked up on the news earlier this year that they released a cheeky little EP called 'I'm Hard To Love, But So Are You, Vol. 1.' Three songs, all very nice. My favourite is this;

1    .    Hard To Love

2    .    Casket

3    .    The Fear Of Letting Go
